360 photos and videos

When the New York Times released their first virtual reality piece, “The Displaced,” I believed there would be a real market for virtual reality in newsroom as empathetic journalism — painting a picture of a place and putting your reader there. I wanted to be on the forefront. So I enrolled in an emerging technologies course and started working with the Columbia Missourian on developing complementary 360 photos and videos for their stories. Here are a few of the things I’ve put together so far.

Supervising Producer

The Global Journalist is a weekly radio program broadcast on KBIA that focuses on press freedom issues and underreported global news. Along with the radio program, video recordings of each show are uploaded to the Global Journalist Youtube channel. As an assistant producer for the Global Journalist, I helped produce shows by researching the topic, finding and pre-interviewing a variety of expert sources and preparing a research document for our host for the live show. I also contributed web content articles and an interview for our Project Exile series.
